Thomas Wilson Lower

Thomas W. Lower, 71 of Aledo, died Monday at his home. Visitation for Thomas will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. There are no funeral services. Memorials may be made to the Thomas Lower Memorial Fund. Thomas Wilson Lower was born on February 6, 1946 in Orion, Illinois to Harvey & Edna (McWhinney) Lower. He married Audrey “Avis” Ferguson in 1967. Thomas retired from John Deere Harvester Works after 33 years of employment. In his spare time he enjoyed working on guns, cars and motorcycles. Thomas was a huge NASCAR fan and held season tickets at the Michigan Motor Speedway. He also drag raced at Cordova in his earlier years. Thomas cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Thomas is survived by his wife, Avis; Children: Doug & Michelle Ferguson of New Boston; Chuck Lower and Vickie Miller of Aledo; Grandchildren: Zakary, Dalton & Landon Lower; Jared Miller, Kristin Miller and Jake Lower and a sister, Elizabeth Swartz of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Lower on October 1, 2016; sister in infancy, Catherine; and siblings: Carolyn Perkins, Jim Lower and Joy Kilbourn.
