Sharon Relander

Sharon Relander, 73 of Aledo, died Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Mercer Manor, Aledo. Private family services will be held with burial in Aledo Cemetery at a later date. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family and condolences may be left at speerfuneralhome.com. To honor Sharon’s memory, memorials may be left for the Messiah Lutheran Church or the Mercer County Family YMCA.

Sharon was born on May 31, 1947 the daughter of John and Frances Koresko of Aledo. Sharon graduated from Illinois State University and married Dave Relander on June 14, 1969. She was a teacher for 30 years, primarily at Apollo Elementary School. Sharon loved her time teaching and always relished making a positive impact on the lives of her many students.

Sharon was blessed with two sons, Brett and Brad. She was a loving mother and very involved with the boys many activities. She loved playing tennis and was also heavily involved with Messiah Lutheran Church as a member of the choir as well as a member of the PTA, Jaycee-etts and the community choir which she truly enjoyed.

Those that passed before her include her parents John and Frances and her brother Dick. Sharon is survived by her husband Dave, sons Brad and Brett, Brett’s wife Rebekah, and her grandchildren Holland, Riley, and Charlotte. She will be greatly missed.
