Ronald E. Doubler, 77 of New Windsor, passed peacefully at his home on November 7, 2018 surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, Viola, with Military Honors immediately following Mass. Burial will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Atkinson at 2:30 PM on Saturday. Visitation is Friday at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, from 3:30 to 7 PM, with a rosary recited at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tri-County EMT’s.
Ron was born June 11, 1941 to Albert and Lucille (Causemaker) Doubler of Atkinson, IL. He served his country in the National Guard and was honorably discharged after three years of service. He married Roberta J. Ullrick on October 28, 1961 and farmed with his parents until they moved to New Windsor, IL where they raised Angus cattle and he was employed at Mercer County Sale Barn in Viola, IL. Later he established his own livestock business, Doubler Livestock, Inc. at Alpha, IL. He lived life to the fullest by working hard and providing weekend adventures for his family and with friends. He loved the Cubs and had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at a home game. In his retirement he and his wife wove and sold rugs at craft shows under R&B Weavers. He also gained a love for antique carnival glass which he collected with his family.
Ron is survived by his wife Roberta; daughter Catherine (Roger) Dunham of Jacksonville, IL; sister, Mary Kay (Marvin) Newman of Cambridge, IL; multiple nieces and nephews, and multiple great nieces and great nephews.
