Roger Kiddoo, 85 of Aledo, formerly of Joy, Illinois died Monday, May 20, 2024, at his home. Funeral Services are Tuesday, May 28th at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery, Joy, Illinois. The visitation is Monday from 3 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Relay for Life of Mercer County or Mercer County Farm Bureau Foundation for scholarships.
Roger was born on October 26, 1938, in Peoria, Illinois to L. Dalton & Ruth E. (Retherford) Kiddoo. He married Carol Ripley on October 5, 1958, at the Joy United Methodist Church, where Roger had been a lifelong member.
Roger was a dedicated farmer, not only farming in Millersburg and Duncan Townships but serving on many organizations and boards in the farming community. He was a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau, serving on the board of directors, and was a district director for the Illinois Farm Bureau. Roger also served his community in other capacities including serving on the board of the Joy State Bank, Joy United Methodist Church, Peniel Cemetery, Duncan Township Board of Trustees, Westmer School District School Board and was a Westmer FFA Alumni. Roger and Carol received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the farm bureau. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed refinishing family heirloom furniture and tractors. He could visit with anyone and enjoyed sharing family histories.
Those left to cherish Roger’s memory include his wife, Carol; children and spouses: Kay & Keith Volz of Cedar Rapids and Doug & Barb Kiddoo of Joy; brother and sister-in-law: Ron & Susan Kiddoo of Urbana; grandchildren: Christina & David Nielson, Jesse Meredith, Aaron & Katie Meredith, Tim & Jill Meredith, Carlea Kiddoo, Larissa Volz and Kaedon & Makayla Volz; great-grandchildren: Jayme, Corbin, Courtney, Mason, Addison, Ellie, Carter, Olivia, and Easton and a great-great-grandson, Braxton. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeremy Meredith.
