Norma J. Bemis

Norma J. Bemis, 85 of Aledo, died Monday, April 15, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20^th at 2:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry or Mercer Foundation for Health. The services will be lived streamed on the Speer Funeral Home Facebook Page. 

Norma Jean was born on September 13, 1938, in Augusta, Illinois to Lee & Erma (Smith) Landis. She married Richard Bemis on August 4, 1957, at the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church, Aledo.

Norma was the director of Medical Records for the Mercer County Hospital for many years and a long-time member of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, especially mysteries, baking bread, quilting, embroidery, and the Domino Club with close friends from the Aledo High School Class of 1956. Norma cherished the time spent with her family.

Those left to cherish Norma’s memory include her husband of 66 years, Richard; daughters and spouses: Jane Bemis of Aledo; Jean & Kurt Kozma of Muskego, WI; Georgia & Mike Vogt of Sterling, KS; grandchildren: Hannah Vogt and Erik & Kareena Vogt and great-grandsons, Layton and Peter; and a brother: Kenneth Landis of Aledo. Norma was preceded in death by her parents: Lee and Erma Landis; sisters: Elaine Landis, Lois Rader and brother, Donald Landis.
