Maurice B. Kimball, 87 of Buffalo Prairie passed away Tuesday April 20, 2021 at Cottage Hospital, Encompass Hospice Galesburg Illinois. A celebration if Maurice’s Life will be held with a Christian burial at Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church on Saturday April 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church on Friday April 23, 2021 from 4-8pm. Burial will be at the Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Memorials can be left to Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church or the Buffalo Prairie Fire Department. Maurice was born on January 2, 1934 in the same home in Buffalo Prairie where he raised his family. He was the son of Boyd Pape and Iris Kistler Kimball. Maurice married Jeanean Freyermuth on October 4, 1953 in Illinois City, Illinois.
Maurice worked as a farmer in Buffalo Prairie his entire life. He was an active member of the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church, The Buffalo Prairie Fire Department serving as trustee of the Illinois City/ Buffalo Prairie Fire District and the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge. Maurice served on the Rockridge School Board for many years and was instrumental in the construction of the current auditorium and gymnasium. Maurice also served on the Board of Directors for Hamlet Mutual Insurance in Reynolds Illinois for many years.
Maurice was an avid sports fan. He loved watching his Cubbies as well the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Bears and the Rockridge Rockets. Maurice enjoyed supporting all of his children and grandchildren in their activities whether that be showing livestock at the local 4-H show or sitting at Rockridge watching the local sports teams. He greatly enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Some of his happiest moments where spending time with family and friends in his beloved community of Buffalo Prairie.
Survivors include his spouse, Jeanean Kimball, his daughters ( and spouses), Cheryl ( Dennis) Robertson, LeRoy, Illinois, Drue ( Ed) Griffin, Buffalo Prairie, Illinois, Beth ( Jim) Whisman Buffalo Prairie, Illinois; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Darlene Mayhew and brother, John Kimball.
Social Distancing policies will be maintained for the visitation and funeral services. The family respectfully requests that all attendees wear appropriate face coverings.
