Margaret “Peggy” Malone, 83 of Aledo, IL died November 4, 2024, at Genesis East, Davenport. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo, IL. Visitation and fellowship will follow mass at St. Catherine’s Church Hall. Private family burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dewitt, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County YMCA or the Mercer County Senior Center. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.
Margaret Ann was born on June 10, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa to William J. & Mary Helen (Kearney) Troy. Peggy graduated from Marycrest University. While attending Marycrest, she met the love of her life, John Malone. They were married on August 7, 1965, in Dewitt, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2023.
Peggy was the office manager for the Ford & Maynard Insurance Agency, until her retirement. In her spare time, Peggy loved to socialize and go shopping. She cherished the time she spent with her exercise group at the YMCA, her sorority and coffee groups.
Peggy and John loved to travel, they especially enjoyed their trips to Ireland and train trips to Colorado and Canada. Peggy loved to host family dinners and looked forward to Easter every year where she would have a large dinner and egg hunt for old and young alike. Her canine companions were very important to her, and she and John had several, including Sligo, Lucky, Super Dog and Dublin.
Peggy is survived by her brothers and sister-in-laws: Bill Troy of Dubuque, IA; Jack & Sue Troy of Bettendorf and Kay Wickert of Peoria; nieces and nephews: Anthony Troy, Elizabeth Kellen, Brent Troy, Jennifer Bowden, Jim Troy, Pat Troy, Nathan Troy, Sara Rockswold, Julie Voelker, Kathy Wickert, Sharon Kooy and Tom Wickert and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John. The family would also like to thank Jeff Rush and Ouida Maddox for their friendship and help over the years.
