Frederick R. Anderson, 67 of Aledo, died Tuesday at Aledo Rehab and Healthcare Center. Funeral Services will be Friday at 12:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to services. Private Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Fred’s family asks for memorials to be given to Jamie & Bre Smith for the care of their son Calvin who is Joyce & Daryl’s great-grandson who has been battling brain cancer for 2 years.
Frederick Ray was born on November 16, 1951 in Galesburg, Illinois to Virgil Leonard and Audrey Louise (Kettering) Anderson. In his younger years he enjoyed showing cattle and his dog, “Mitzi” for 4-H. Fred loved knowledge, especially history, and spent many years in college obtaining 2 master’s degrees. He was a dissertation short of his Doctorate on homelessness.
Fred worked for the Commission for the Blind taking care of the Food Service at the Iowa Capitol Building. He also served many churches as minister and was a chaplain for a nursing home during his ministerial training. He had a huge heart for the homeless. During his lifetime, Fred lived in many places. He loved to travel and experience new places.
Fred is survived by his sister, Joyce Kadel of Joy; a niece, 2 nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Daryl Kadel and his special Feline Companion, Fuzzy.
