Erma L. Brownlee, 99 of Aledo, died Monday, October 9, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, surrounded by her families love. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation is Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to Norwood Presbyterian Church. Erma was born on February 24, 1918 in Spring Grove Township, Warren County, Illinois to Ernest & Lulu (Gilmore) McCrery. She married William Robert “Bob” Brownlee on September 19, 1944 in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1994. In her earlier years, Erma enjoyed managing several Beauty Salons. She enjoyed doing hair until recently. Erma was devoted in her faith, a devout member of the Norwood Presbyterian church and a Sunday School Teacher. She helped her husband on the family farm, enjoyed gardening, golfing and playing cards. In their retirement, Erma and Bob spent their winters in Arizona. She enjoyed traveling, especially the trips with her sister-in-law, Joni. Those left to cherish Erma’s memory include her daughter and son-in-law: Connie & Kent Gerber of Aledo; Grandchildren and families: Traci & Donnie Yates and their son, Kyle of New Boston; Jon Gerber & Kathy Marlow and children: Sage, Jayden & Sydney of Geneseo and Brian & Kayde Gerber and children: Karlee & Tinlee of Aledo. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Gertrude Burns, Myrtle Darrah, Neil McCrery, Orpheus McCrery, Dale McCrery and Bill McCrery.
