Ella Mae Baker, 77 of Aledo, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at her home in the loving care of her family. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Aledo. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 7 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to Mercer County Relay for Life. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.
Ella Mae was born on May 7, 1941 in Moline, Illinois to Willard & Maude (Parkinson) Schreiber. Ella Mae graduated from Aledo High School. She married Jerry Baker on March 24, 1961 in Burgess, Illinois.
Ella Mae was employed with Mer-Roc FS for many years. In earlier years she was with Continental Telephone and Illinois Power. Ella Mae enjoyed reading, gardening, canning and cooking. She was always sharing her talents in the kitchen with her family and friends. Ella Mae and Jerry enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Mexico and when the boys were younger, they spent their summers in the Ozarks. She was a devoted Nana, and never missed her grandsons sporting events. Ella Mae loved animals, especially her canine companion, Lucy. She was very active in her church, especially The Bible Bunch.
Those left to cherish Ella Mae’s memory are her husband, Jerry; 2 sons: Jeff Baker (Chris Ferguson) and Eric (Nicky) Baker all of Aledo; 2 grandsons: Evan and Cody Baker; 2 sisters: Sally Hunt of Aledo and Betty Feigenbaum of Bainbridge Island, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents.
