Charles "Charley" L. Thomas

Charles “Charley” Thomas, 82 of Aledo, died March 14, 2023, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois. Funeral services will be Monday, March 20^th at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is Sunday from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Aledo Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Thomas Family. Charley was born on November 5, 1940, in Illinois City, Illinois to Ellis & Helen (O’Haver) Thomas. He married Wanda Walthall, they later divorced. He married Connie Lundeen on July 24, 1982, in Marston, Illinois.

Charley worked for John Deere at the Davenport Works plant from 1966 through 1997. He was a past member of the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge and of Oakview Country Club, where he had a hole in one on July 3, 1995. He loved golfing and was a member of Oakwood Country Club. In his spare time Charley enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, fishing. Charley also loved mowing his yard. Charley and Connie enjoyed their vacations in Mexico and Florida. He was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. The time Charley cherished the most was the time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charley’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Connie; sons: Jim (Pam) Thomas and Jeff (Teresa) Thomas; bonus daughter: Maxi (Mark) Swank; grandson: Adam (Callie) Thomas; bonus grandchildren: Hanna (David) Summers and Xander & Logan Swank; great-grandchildren: Evelyn Mullins, Ensley Summers and Zurina Mullins; sister: Frances (Mike) Murphy; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Ken (Diane) Lundeen and Cindy (Mike) Bosold. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Carl & Shirley Lundeen; sister & brother-in-law: Joyce & Roy French and sister-in-law: Kim Cortez.

The family would like to thank Sheri McDonald and staff at Fresenius Clinic and the many friends and family for the special care given to Charley. Your care, concern and support will never be forgotten. Lastly the family would like to thank God for sharing Charley with them, especially with Connie for the last 40 years.
