Mary Esther Brown,81 of Aledo, died Monday, January 1, 2007,at her home in rural Aledo. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Aledo. Burial will be at the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 10AM to 1 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Africa Inland Mission through Trinity Presbyterian Church, Aledo.
Mary Esther was born May 17, 1925 to Glenn and Elsie Gilmore. She was a graduate of
Sterling College. She married Kenneth Brown on March 21, 1947 in Ohio Grove Township. She was a homemaker.
Mary Esther was a member of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church for many years. In recent years, she was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and its women’s organization. She was involved with Home Economists in Homemaking and a member of Homemakers’ Extension.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Kenneth; her brother Ralph Gilmore (Merna) of Aledo; her sister-in-law Evelyn Dykstra of Hull, IA; her children: Norman Brown (Cheryl) and Carolyn McCrory (Joel) all of Aledo; Warren Brown of Naples; Roger Brown (Shirley) of Nairobi, Kenya; and Joy Rosik (Chris) of Fresno, CA; 15 grandchildren: Andy Brown, Laura Lindberg, Jenny Ilderton, Emily Brown, Brett McCrory, Tara Collison, Jill Hofmann, Karen McCrory, Rebekah Guthrie, Aaron Brown, Jonathan Brown, Rachel and Hannah Brown, and Annalise and Julianna Rosik; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and her daughter-in-law Kathy Brown.
