Bob died on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 , at Mercer County Hospital in Aledo after a brief illness.
Memorials may be made to Aledo United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Bob was born in Aledo on August 15th, 1921, the son of Wilbur and Blanche (Belt) Seiver. He graduated from Aledo High School in 1939. He married Dorothy “Dottie” Butcher on Oct. 19, 1941.
Bob served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as an officer and B-24 pilot. After his active service, he began his career with Illinois Northern Utility Company (later Illinois Power) in capacities including line crew foreman. After retirement he and Dottie spent 20 winters as “snow-birds” in Harlingen, TX, where he also volunteered in the HOSTS grade school tutoring program. Each spring they returned to Aledo to continue friendships, fellowship and family.
He and Dottie were life-long best friends, and enjoyed life in it's fullest, including boating, camping, square dancing and following Aledo Green Dragon football. After her death, he remained close with her brothers Lee Ward (Barb) Butcher and Don (Joyce) Butcher, enjoying meals, fishing and playing cards. His presence, warm smile and quick wink were an inspiration to all his friends at church and all who knew him.
Bob is survived by two son, Bob (Barbara-Kay) Seiver, Zachary, LA., and Steve (Kathee) Seiver, Rock Island; grandchildren Alex Seiver, Jacquelin Davis, Laura Gallagher and Robyn Guillory; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, parents, brother Earle and sister Helen Johnson.
