Erma M. Landis, 98 of Aledo, died Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Temple Cemetery, Table Grove, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home or Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church.
Erma was born on November 15, 1907 in Fulton County, Illinois to Jasper and Pearl (Walters) Smith. She married Lee Landis on June 13, 1928.
Erma was a member of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church and was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, macramé, painting her husbands woodworking and especially crocheting. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren. After retirement, Erma & Lee spent over 25 years in Cherokee Village, Arkansas.
Erma is survived by 4 children and their spouses: Donald & Kathy Landis of Morton; Kenneth & Arlene Landis of Aledo; Lois & James “Bud” Rader of Little York and Norma & Richard Bemis of Aledo; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Elaine Landis; a brother, Kenneth Smith and a grandson, David Dean Rader.
