William S. Taylor, 84 of Aledo, died Monday at the Mercer County Nursing Home. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, rural Aledo. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Aledo United Methodist Church or Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Bill was born on May 1, 1926 in Millersburg, Illinois to Fred & Dorothy (Harbour) Taylor. He married Marjorie Ann Brown on December 1, 1946 in Aledo, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 5, 1991.
Bill was a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church. He was also a Veteran of the United States Navy. Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and followed many sports teams. Bill loved to travel and enjoyed his winters in Florida. He was a talented bridge player, belonging to one bridge club for 50 years.
Those left to cherish Bill’s memory include his children and their spouses: William L. & Kristine Taylor of Aledo; Teresa & John Navratil of Naperville, IL and Samuel M. Taylor of Chattanooga, TN; a sister: Mildred Heck of Cedar Rapids, IA and 4 grandchildren: Michael Navratil and Katherine Navratil of Naperville and Laura and her husband, Ira Thrasher of Tuscaloosa, AL and Alexander W. Taylor of Aledo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marjorie.
