Nancy P. Leonard

Nancy P. Leonard, 67 of Matherville, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 after a courageous seven year battle with cancer. Private family graveside services will be held in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville. A time of fellowship and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 1 to 3 PM at Nancy and Robert’s home. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club or the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition of Illinois. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family. Nancy was born on January 2, 1943 in Moline, Illinois to Bill & Margaret Nancy (McCallum) Maynard. She married Robert Leonard on July 2, 1963. From this union three daughters were born. Nancy was an LPN at St. Anthony’s for many years. She also enjoyed woodworking, computer time and especially anything Disney. She loved to camp, especially the trips to Texas, Florida and Branson, Missouri. Nancy took up quilting and in one year, she made 7 quilts for her children and grandchildren, with Robert’s help. Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory include her husband Robert; three daughters: Robin Nanette Leonard of Greenville, NC; Deanne M. (Chuck) Hobert of Rock Island and Melissa L. (Eric) Griffin of Bettendorf ; 3 grandchildren: Gabrielle & Mason Griffin and Audey Hobert. Also surviving are many special family members and friends, including: Angie DeWilfond and Jill Mewes. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law: Donna Leonard.
