Norman Clarence Tracy, 81 of Aledo, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 6 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church or the AMT Medic, Aledo. Speer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Norman was born on December 24, 1928 in Fair Grove, Missouri to Clarence & Nola (Blair) Tracy. He married Cherie Brown on September 25, 1955. They farmed in Ohio Grove Township until retiring in 2001. They moved to Aledo in 2006.
Norman was a member of: Mercer County Farm Bureau and the ASC Board of Directors. He was presented the conservation Farm Family Award in 1982 by AISWCD & WGN Broadcasting. He was an avid bowler and participated in Burgess softball in his earlier years. Norman loved to travel; to tell stories; to fly; trains and enjoyed nature. His true joy was his family and spending time with them at the lake. He also enjoyed repairing things, and could work on anything, but specialized in clocks.
Those left to cherish Norman’s memory include his wife of 54 years, Cherie; a son: Kim (Bridie) Tracy of Quincy and 2 daughters: Lori (Rick) Boruff and Patti (Karl) Hanson all of Aledo; Grandchildren: C.J., Heather and Brad Tracy; Rye and Rusty Boruff and Carli, Jesse and Noah Hanson; 5 great-grandchildren and Siblings: Alma Lee McInnis of Florida; David (Mary Ann) Tracy , Bill (Ilene) Tracy and Mary Ann (Bill) Hall all of Aledo. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son and infant granddaughter.
