Alice R. Donaldson

Alice Donaldson, of Aledo died Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. A time of remembrance to celebrate Alice’s 98 years of life will be held on Monday at 4:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Private family burial will be in Fair Lawn Cemetery, Vandalia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Alice Ruth was born on March 24, 1912 near Vandalia, Illinois to Charles & Louisa (Grupp) Girard. She married Ernest Donaldson. They moved to Seaton, Illinois in 1937, where they resided their entire married life. Alice retired to Aledo after Ernest died in 1969. Alice was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church and the Women’s association of the church. Those left to cherish Alice’s memory include her daughter, Donna Naber of Weston, CT; 6 grandchildren: Scott Kronn, Kim McGooky, Kathy Schroeder, Kelly Fawcette, Mark Naber and Stuart Naber; 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, June Donaldson; grandson, Rick Kronn; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
