Services for David L. Zippe, 63 of Aledo, will be Friday at 2:00 PM at the Preemption United Methodist Church. A time of food and fellowship will be at 12:00 Noon at the church for family and friends. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PanCan (for Pancreatic Cancer Research). David died on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at his home. David was born on November 18, 1942 in Burlington, Iowa to Harley “Dick” and Juanita (Glidden) Zippe. He was united in marriage to Linda Clark on December 23, 1967 at the Perryton Presbyterian Church. David retired on January 31, 2006 from John Deere, Harvestor Works, East Moline after 42 years and 8 months of dedicated service. He was also an avid collector of John Deere items and other tractors. He also enjoyed farming and traveling. David was a devoted member of the Preemption United Methodist Church. David was stationed in Germany with the United States Army from 1965-1967. David is survived by his wife, Linda; children and their spouses: Trina & Randy Post of Bonney Lake, WA; Brent & Kim Zippe and Lucas & Christina Zippe all of Aledo and Janda & Jeremy Brockhouse of Delavan, IL; his mother, Juanita Zippe of Aledo; 9 grandchildren: Nathan, Garrett & Brennan Post; Alanna and Austin Zippe; Ryley Zippe and Kolton, Madylin & Micah Brockhouse; a brother: Larry Zippe and wife, Cindy of Genoa, IL and sister, Linda Lasik & husband, Kent of Prairie View, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother in infancy, Rocky Joe.
