Frances J. Anderson

Funeral Services for Frances J. Anderson, 96 of Aledo will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Frances Anderson Memorial Fund. Frances died on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Aledo Rehab and Healthcare Center. Frances was born on August 8, 1913 on the family farm in Mercer Township, Mercer County, IL. She married Russell “Andy” Anderson on August 8, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1997. Frances graduated from Moline Public School of Nursing in 1937. After graduation she was a nurse for Dr. Stites, Dr. Wallace, Dr. L.E. Robinson, Dr. Wilbur Miller and the Roosevelt Military Academy. She also did private duty nursing and helped form the Mercer County Home Health Care Service. She retired in 1997 after 60 years in nursing. Frances was one of the oldest members of College Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was a member and past president of Business and Professional Women and was honored as a Jaycee Woman of the Year. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and socializing. She was a devoted grandmother who cherished attending her grandchildren’s activities. Those left to cherish Frances memory include her 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Jim & Joanne and Gary & Carol, all of Aledo; 6 granddaughters and their spouses: Kim & Jack Sheese; Pam & Kevin Ricke and Lisa & Doug Price, all of Aledo; Tara & Sean Battles of St. Louis; Kelly & Josh Frieden and Erin & Nathan Frieden all of New Boston; 11 great-grandchildren: Jordan Sheese; Alexandra; Jonathon & Kathryn Ricke; Noah, Ethan, & Emerson Price; Aubrey, Anna, Kylee & Cole Frieden.
