Funeral Services for David W. Skinner, 71 of Viola, will be Saturday at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be at Viola Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Dave died on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Dave was born on November 27, 1934 in Aledo, Illinois to Lawrence R. & Edith M. (Steele) Skinner. He married Betty Goldsmith on September 22, 1957 in Clarence, Iowa.
Dave retired in 1997 from Carpenters Local #166, Milan. He had also farmed in earlier years.
Dave was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church, where he currently was trustee. He enjoyed woodworking, trailriding and especially raising his horses and mules. He was an avid supporter of the New Windsor Drill Team.
Dave is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Robert Skinner of Burwick, IL; daughters & sons-in-law: Joni & Rock Caldwell of Viola; Julie & Eric Hamilton of Dodgeville, WI and Jill and Mike DeSchepper of Viola; a sister, Marjorie & Bill Staker of Aledo and 10 grandchildren: Paige Skinner; Brittany, Briley and Brennen Bollinger; McKara & Carson Caldwell; Joel & Lane Hamilton and Emma & Ellie DeSchepper. He was preceded in death by his parents.
