Janene K. Pitman

Janene K. Pitman, 68 of Sherrard died Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Inurnment will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Janene Pitman Memorial Fund. Janene Kay Brink was born on August 25, 1940 to Bill & Emma Gene (Dillon) Brink. She married Thomas R. Pitman on January 27, 1962 in Matherville, IL. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2004. Janene enjoyed caring for children and was an assistant teacher for Pre-K at the Matherville Grade School for several years. She had attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed many crafts, including: porcelain dolls, ceramics, hand sewing and calligraphy. Janene was an avid reader and was always working on a puzzle. Janene is survived by her children and their spouses: Kathy Hajostek of Sherrard; Leah & Greg Boens of Coal Valley; Kevin Pitman of Matherville and Bob & Alecia Pitman of Gilbert, AZ; 12 grandchildren: Travis & Kyle Pitman; Alexa, Jesse, Elizabeth, Autumn, Jason & Nicholas Pitman; Amber Hajostek and Wade, Matt & Carly Boens; 2 sisters: Sharon Eilert and husband, Jim of Chicago and Margaret Daley of Washington; 2 brothers: Tom McCartney of Ohio and Tim McCartney of Prague Slovakia.
