A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of William “Mac” McNamara, 61 of Keithburg, will be Saturday, January 14th from 1 to 4 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. To honor Mac’s memory the family asks any donations be given to the Keithsburg Fire & Ambulance or the Keithsburg Museum. Mac died on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at his home. Mac was born on October 19, 1955 in Flushing, New York to James & Alice (Stephenson) McNamara. He was a 1973 graduate of Westmer High School. Mac was a dedicated employee of ADM, Keithsburg since the early 1970’s, lastly helping during this falls harvest. He had also worked at Canon Bronze and was a bartender for over 13 years at various establishments, but mostly The Lighthouse. Mac’s many friendships led him to being active at Trivia Nights, playing pool and darts, Cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Bears and building and racing cars in Cordova. He was also a devoted Uncle and Great Uncle. Those left to cherish Mac’s memory include his sister and brother-in-law: Carol & Larry Hougland of Rock Island; Nephews: Eric & Kelly Hougland of Independence, MO and Jimmy & Kathleen Hougland of Syracuse, NY; Nieces: Mary & Josh Benhart of Orlando, FL; Liz and Kathy Hougland of Rock Island and Amy McNamara of Maryland; Sister-in-law: Linda McNamara of Gambrills, MD; many great-nieces and nephews and Best Friends: Dennis Henderson, Rick Nylin and Dolores and Greg Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James McNamara.
