Edwin Junior Relander

Funeral Services for Edwin Junior Relander, 81 of Aledo, are Monday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Central Park Bandshell. Edwin died on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Mercer County Hospital. Edwin was born on July 31, 1927 to Ernest and Guyda ( Fender) Relander. He married Emma Lee Smith on November 28, 1946 at the Baptist Parsonage in Aledo. Edwin retired from Standard Forwarding, after driving truck for them for 18 years. He had previously driven for Thede’s in Aledo for 27 years. In earlier years, Edwin enjoyed spending Saturday evenings dancing with Emma Lee. He was a devoted family man who cherished his visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edwin always wanted to keep busy, and especially liked taking care of his yard. He was a retired member of the Teamsters #371. Those left to cherish Edwin’s memory include his wife of 62 years, Emma Lee; 3 sons and their wives: Dave & Sharon, Steve & Tanya and Randy & Darcy, all of Aledo; a sister, Patsy Anderson of Redmond, WA; 4 grandsons and their wives: Brett & Bekah, Brad, Travis & Kristin and Cody & Chelsea; and four great-grandchildren: Holland, Owen, Chloe and Drew.
