Gorden R. Harrison

Gorden R. Harrison, 58 of Viola, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Gorden Harrison Memorial Fund. Gorden was born July 5, 1950 in Aledo, Illinois to Robert & June (Jones) Harrison. He married Theresa Smith on August 21, 1970 in Rock Island. Gorden retired from Case IH in 2003, where he was active in the UAW. In earlier years he operated the Harrison Service Stations in Viola and Alexis. Gorden was a family man, and especially enjoyed the cruises with the entire family. He loved attending the grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed gambling, hunting and fishing. Those left to cherish Gorden’s memory are his wife, Theresa; children: Kelly & Jeff Mathews of Grundy Center, Iowa and Jesse & Christie Harrison of Aledo; grandchildren: Kayla, Alyssa & Sydney Mathews and Jacob, Darrin, Hannah & Emmalee Harrison; brothers and sisters-in-law: Fay “Chuck” & Celia Harrison, Kieth & Vicki Harrison and Barb Harrison, all of Viola; sisters: Judy Maynard & Galen Filler of Matherville and Barb Schultz of Viola. Gorden was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tammy Rae and a brother, Darrel.
