Lane R. Hyett

Funeral services for Lane R. Hyett, 73 of Aledo, will be Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lane Hyett Memorial Fund. Lane died on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at UnityPoint, Trinity, Rock Island. Lane was born on January 23, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa to L. Rex & Eileen (Vetter) Hyett. He served in the United States Army for 3 years, stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. He married Dorothy Westbrook and from this union, 3 children were born. They later divorced. He married Mary Jo Moore in 2010;she preceded him in death. Lane enjoyed working in the Aledo community in both Sales and Auctioning. He owned and operated L. R. Hyett Furniture and Radio Shack for many years. Lane enjoyed visiting with his customers and friends at both work and the Coffee Club at the Bowling Alley. He loved to auctioneer, and collect his antiques. Lane was a dedicated volunteer at Arrowhead ranch, sitting on the fundraising committee and volunteering his services for their annual auction. He also enjoyed fishing, farming and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Lane is survived by his daughter and her family: Lisa & Jeremy Finch and their children: Taylor, Tristen, Lauren and Natalie; his mother, Eileen “Babe” Hyett all of Aledo; his sister and brother-in-law: Carol & Dave Close of Reynolds and their children: Greg & Brenda Close and Gayle Reid & fiancé, Scott Jenkins and families. He is also survived by his work family, both past and present at L.R. Hyett Furniture. Lane was preceded in death by his father; infant daughter; son, Lance and wife, Mary Jo.
