James J. Earl, 66 of Aledo, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at his home. Funeral Services will be Monday at 10:30 AM at The First Baptist Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery, with Military Honors by the American Legion Post #121. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 6 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to either the First Baptist Church or to the family for Missions.
Jim was born on June 21, 1949 in Rock Island to Kenneth A. & Evelyn (Nelson) Earl. He served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970. Jim and Debbie Wilczynski were married in 1971. She preceded him in death in 1989. He married Marjie Duncan on August 11, 1990.
Jim dedicated his life to serving others through his nursing career and his mission work. He was a nurse with the Mercer County Hospital for 35 years. Jim also served as Mercer County Coroner in the 1980’s. His faith and his mission work were extremely important. He served with Baptist Medical Missionary International, going on 55 mission trips to 35 countries. Jim also created a mission service through his home church, First Baptist Church.
Jim was a devoted father and grandfather, who cherished the time spent with his family. He enjoyed watching westerns, gardening and his Ford tractor.
Those left to cherish Jim’s memory include his wife: Marjie; Children and spouses: Clint & Kelly Weber of Houston, TX; Cherie & Gene Redahan of Davenport; Wendy & Larry King of Aledo; Jenny & Nick Miller of Aledo; Amber & Paul Kirchgesner of Davenport; Sarah Earl of Davenport; Cory & Kelly Shook of Maple Grove, MN and Becky & Dustin Whittington of Aledo; Grandchildren: Taylor, Kylie, Kinsey, Caden, Kieran, Caleb, Colin, Jordan, Riley, Payton, D.J., Addison, Kilani and Lilly; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill & Donna Earl and John & Sue Earl of California; Hal & Linda Earl and Charlie & Becky Earl of Aledo; Mother-in-law: Janice Duncan and In-laws: Nancy Earl; Greg Engwall; Peggy & Steve Johnson and Phil Duncan & companion Connie Lemon all of Aledo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; sister, Anne Engwall; Brothers: Tim, George and Kenneth; father-in-law, Dave Duncan; brother-in-law, Scott Duncan; Sister-in-law, Diane Earl and his beloved faithful companion, Max.
