A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Kistler, 85 of Aledo, will be Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Athletic Booster Club, Brookstone Assisted Living or St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Mary died on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo. Mary Louise Rush was born on May 7, 1930 in Aledo, Illinois to William & Mabel (Day) Rush. She was a 1948 graduate of Aledo High School. Mary and David Kistler were married on October 20, 1951 in Aledo. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2013. Mary retired from Amcore Bank, after 20 years of service. She then worked at Aledo Wal-Mart for 11 years. She was the Woman of the Year in the early 90’s; enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, gardening and watching NASCAR, golf and the St. Louis Cardinals on TV and listening to Mercer County Sports. She cherished the time spent with her family. Those left to cherish Mary’s memory include her son, Dan Kistler of Aledo; granddaughter and family, Carrie & Kevin Shride and children: Quinci, Averi, Marli & Kirsten of Burlington; brother: Ernest (Lois) Rush of Aledo; Nieces & Nephews: Sandy (Terry Hank), Derek & Jackie Bertelson, Joe Fike, Janet Malone, Elaine Kistler, Steve Kistler and many other nieces and nephews; Half-brothers and sisters: Allen Rush, James Rush, Rick Rush, Jeffrey Rush, Barb Dixon, Karen Engle, Beverly Balmer, Susie Mizner, Kim Witt and Kelly Lane and Sister-in-law: Judy Kistler. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; step- mother, Irene Rush; husband; grandson-in-law, Mike McIntire; Son, Rodney James in infancy; nephew, David West; Sister, Colleen West; Brother, Conrad Rush in infancy; half-sister, Carol Askew; half-brother, Patrick Rush and brother-in-law, Edwin Kistler.
