Aldus E. Gridley

Funeral services for Aldus Gridley, 89 of Aledo, formerly of Milan, will be Thursday at 7:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Private burial will be Friday in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Aledo Health and Rehab Center. Aldus died on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Aledo Health and Rehab Center. Aldus was born on July 15, 1926 in Roseville, Illinois to Paul & Lydia (Root) Gridley. He married Vada Wherry on January 12, 1949 in Joy, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2000. Aldus and Vada farmed for many years in Mercer County. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed studying the Native American Culture, and was an avid collector. Aldus was a dedicated Democrat, and was precinct Committeeman. Aldus is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Tom Williams of Milan; grandchildren: Amanda Skelton and Tarrah Williams; great-grandchildren: Lydia & Emily Skelton and Sister, Julia Douglas of Eldridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife,sisters: Willabelle Baugh and Jeanette Nied and a brother, Carlyle.
