James E. “Bud” Rader, 87 of Little York, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Roseville Heath and Rehab Center. Services for Bud will be held on Monday at 1:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church, where Bud was a member.
James Edgar was born on January 21, 1928 in Aledo, Illinois the son of Fletcher & Winifred (Combs) Rader. He married Aliene Blackman in September of 1949. She preceded him in death. Bud married Lois Mae Landis on August 31, 1957 at the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church, rural Aledo. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2014.
Bud was a World War II Navy Veteran. After serving his country he came home to farm. Upon retirement, he and Lois moved to Little York from the Sunbeam area. Bud was known for raising honey bees and horseradish. In earlier years Bud and Lois enjoyed working the concession stand at the Seaton Ball Diamond, where Bud also enjoyed playing ball. He was also an active volunteer with the Seaton Fire Department and Community Club. Bud was talented in woodworking and enjoyed sharing his talent with others.
Those left to cherish Bud’s memory include his children and spouses: Diane & Scotty Goodell of Roseville; Brian & Sharla Rader of Henderson, NE and a daughter in Arizona ; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one lovingly expected; 4 great-great-grandchildren; Sister: Betty Anderson, Rock Island and a brother at heart, Roger Rader of Aledo. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; a son, David; a granddaughter, Cindy; sisters, Louise, Irene and 3 in infancy.
