Margaret M. Morris, 87 of Aledo, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at her home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Senior Center or the Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry.
Margaret was born on March 6, 1928 near Muscatine, Iowa, one of twin daughters, to Carl & Helen (Miller) Monson. She was a 1946 graduate of Little York High School. Margaret was united marriage to William J. Morris on December 14, 1947.He preceded her in death on April 21, 2012.
Prior to marriage Margaret was a receptionist in the office of Dr. Harold Little. After marriage, Margaret farmed with her husband in Mercer County, until they retired in 1984. She was a member of the Aledo First United Presbyterian Church, until it closed in 1994, and a lifetime member of the Mercer County Historical Society. Margaret and Bill enjoyed traveling, and visited every state but Alaska. She enjoyed playing bridge and 500 at the Senior Center and raising her hybrid Iris on the family farm.
Margaret is survived by her sister: Betty Hofer of Aledo; brother, Merle (Clara) Monson of Galesburg; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; twin sister, Mildred Gustafson; infant sister, Twila; niece, Vicki Patterson and brothers-in-law, Evart Gustafson and Floyd Hofer.
