Clyde C. Livingston, 89 of Aledo, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 PM at the College Avenue Presbyterian Church. Visitation is prior to services, beginning at 10:00 AM. Inurnment with Military Honors, provided by the Mercer County VFW, will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County VFW Post #1571 or the College Avenue Presbyterian Church. Speer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Clyde Curtis was born on December 7, 1925 in New Windsor, Illinois to Lawrence & Ruth (Pearson) Livingston. After high school graduation Clyde joined the United States Army, serving overseas from 1944 - 1946 in France and Germany in Tank Recognizance. He married Nancy Jane Shetler on June 17, 1951 in Woodhull, Illinois.
Clyde retired from Illinois Power after 39 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Mercer County VFW; the Alpha American Legion; and member of the Aledo Kiwanis club. He was an active member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, having served in many capacities.
Clyde enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He enjoyed coaching Senior League for many years and played in the church Softball league. He was a Die Hard Chicago Cubs Fan. Clyde also enjoyed driving Van for the Veterans and for the Senior Center.
Those left to cherish Clyde’s memory include his wife, Nancy; daughter and son-in-law: Susan & James Galbreath of Milan; grandsons: Eric Galbreath and Curtis Livingston and great-granddaughter: Emma Jane Galbreath. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Mark; son, David ; and Siblings: Eileen Johnson, June Olson, and Rex Livingston.
