Scott Young

Scott Young, 48 of Aledo, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation will be Sunday, May 17th from 2 to 4 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Private family burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Scott Young Memorial Fund. Robert Scott Young was born on March 30 1967 to Gerald & Sharon Sproston Young. He was a 1986 graduate of Aledo High School and had EMT training through Carl Sandburg College and the University of Iowa. Scott was currently employed with Heinz of Muscatine. He had previously owned and operated “Scooter’s Bar & Grill” in Aledo. Scott had also taken his EMT training to Saudi Arabia and worked with them for 10 years helping them set up their EMT service. Scott enjoyed a good joke and was a known prankster. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Scott was able to help others through his gift of organ donation. Scott is survived by his parents: Sharon and John Lingafelter; sister: Marcy (Jerry) Schwartzkoph; brother: Brad Lingafelter; nieces: Kelly Schwartzkopf and Cailyn Lingafelter, all of Aledo; paternal grandmother: Audrey Young of Muscatine and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents: Emery Young, Ben & Ruth Sproston and Blaine & Gerarda Lingafelter.
