Gary W. Kaufman

Masonic Memorial Services in honor of Gary Kaufman, 74 of New Boston, will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Gary Kaufman Memorial Fund. Gary died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at his home, with his family at his side. Gary was born on June 28, 1940 in New Boston, Illinois to John & Elsie (Bauguess) Kaufman. He was united in married to Jean Hughes. Gary retired in 2002 from the Cement Masons Union, Local #18. He was a member of the New Boston Masonic Lodge #59. Gary was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known for hosting the best 4th of July party in New Boston and enjoyed his morning coffee with all his friends along the river watching the Tow Boats. Gary is survived by his wife, Jean; 4 children and spouses: George Kaufman of New Boston; Penny & Tim Krause; Tammy Kaufman of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Randy & Peggy Kaufman of Seaton; a brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Verlee Kaufman of Keithsburg; 7 grandchildren: John Kaufman, Shawn Kennedy, Brandon Kaufman, John Krause, Kyle Krause, Nichole Cameron and Jacob Cameron and 5 great-grandchildren: Madison & Tyler Kennedy, Riley & Carter Kaufman and Trinity Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.
