Gloria J. Harroun

Funeral services for Gloria J. Harroun, 83 of Aledo, will be Thursday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. There is no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the Aledo United Methodist Church or the Mercer County VFW Auxiliary. Gloria died on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Trinity Rock Island. Gloria was born on July 31, 1931 in Davenport, Iowa to John & Winifred (Aubrey) Flynn. She graduated from Keithsburg High School. On December 13, 1952, Gloria and Wendell Harroun were united in marriage in Keithsburg, IL. Gloria was a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church and the Mercer County VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and had beautiful flower gardens. She loved to plant flowers to attract hummingbirds. She cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria and Wendell also enjoyed the many bus trips they took around the United States and Canada. Those left to cherish Gloria’s memory include her husband of 62 years, Wendell; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah & Daniel Craig of Tucson, AZ and Cathy & Ted Long of Aledo; 2 Grandchildren and spouses: Eric & Daphney Long and Kristin & Nathan Willits; 2 great-grandchildren: Adler & Vera Long; and a sister, Carol Thomas of Calimesa, CA.
