Eileen Bivens

Funeral services for Eileen B. Bivens, 94 of Aledo, will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Edgington Food Pantry or Zion Lutheran Church. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family. Eileen died on Sunday, January 11, 2105 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo. Eileen Barbara was born on December 8, 1920 in Buffalo Prairie Township to Edward Adam & Mildred Martha (Sackville) Schmidt. She married John L. Bivens on October 21, 1939 in Aledo. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1994. Eileen was a florist with Foster Flower Shop in Aledo and also worked at Reasons General Store in Buffalo Prairie, prior to retirement. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society within the church, holding many offices in the society. She also enjoyed card club and baking, and was especially known for her pies. Those left to cherish Eileen’s memory include daughter and son-in-law: Janet Eileen & Roger Mueller of Joy; daughter-in-law: Linda Bivens of Rock Island; 4 grandchildren and spouses: Ryan & Angel Mueller of Joy; Jason & Sarah Mueller of Taylor Ridge; Jennifer Zaleski of Andalusia and Christena Bivens of Rock Island; 6 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Mackenzie, Madalyn, Colby, Eden & Guy; 3 sisters: Genevieve Parchert of Buffalo Prairie; Virginia (James) Padesky of Moline and Judy Bieri Of Illinois City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Stephen; brother: Vaughn Schmidt and Sisters: Kathleen DeSchepper and Eleanor Bigham.
