E. Fern Dillavou, 94 of Aledo, died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. Funeral Services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, rural Seaton, Illinois. Visitation is Monday prior to services, from 9 to 11 AM. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church.
Fern was born on May 7, 1920 near Danville, Iowa to Lloyd W. & Barbara (Miller) Jones. She lived in New London, Iowa most of her youth. Fern married Wendell Dallas Dillavou on May 3, 1941 near Wilton, IA. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2014, after 73 years of Marriage.
Fern was a cook for both Seaton and the Aledo School District for many years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary; member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended both Center Presbyterian Church and Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church. Fern enjoyed crocheting afghans; reading and the time spent with her family and friends. She was well known for being an excellent cook; baking many wedding cakes and for her love of sports, especially baseball and football.
Those left to cherish Fern’s memory include; 4 sons and their spouses: Bill & Kay Dillavou of Cochise, AZ; Robert Dillavou of Forreston, IL; Ronn & Pam Dillavou of Aledo and Rev. Don & Marlene Dillavou of Hamilton, OH; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren plus one lovingly expected in April and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother: Harold “Johnny” Jones.
