Robert Hofmann

Robert E. Hofmann, 80 of Aledo, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Trinity Rock Island. Graveside services are Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Robert Hofmann Memorial Fund for Cancer Research. Bob was born on December 15, 1933 in Rock Island, Illinois to John & Janet (Chambers) Hofmann. He was united in marriage to Emma Ellen Fordham on June 14, 1952 in Aledo. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2002. Bob was the Superintendent of Buildings for the Roosevelt Military Academy for 30 years. Upon their closing he was employed in Maintenance with the Aledo School District for 30 years. Bob also was an Aledo Volunteer Fireman for 35 years; a past Mercer County Deputy and enjoyed Stock Car Racing. In later years he enjoyed watching his nieces ASA Softball games and treasured the times spent with his great-grandchildren. Bob is survived by his daughter, Suzi Corwin and husband, Don of Aledo; grandson, Daniel Corwin and his wife, Tiana and their children: Brooklyn, Will and Grace. Also surviving are his siblings: Alice Brown of Moline; Lucille & Joe Hernandez of Silvis; Joe & Pat Hofmann of East Moline and Fred & Dee Hofmann of Andover. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and siblings: John “Snooky”; Dorothy, Janet and Annie.
