Elwyn “Doc” Bull, 87 of Buffalo Prairie, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be at the Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial may be left for the Antioch Baptist Church, Mercer County Nursing Home or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
Elwyn was born on September 11, 1920 in Buffalo Prairie Township, Mercer County Illinois to Cash M. & Ella ( Taylor) Bull. He married M. Eleanor Taylor on October 12, 1944 in Buffalo Prairie. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1999.
Elwyn farmed near Buffalo Prairie his entire life. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church, where he had served in many capacities, including, treasurer, deacon and building committees. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, bingo, singing and especially spending time with family and friends.
Elwyn is survived by his children and their spouses: Vivian and Robert Kopp and Larry and Sandy Bull, all of Aledo; a sister, Majel Bellinger and husband, Dave of Roseville; 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Randy Still, Christopher & Heather Kopp, Shelby & Mark Beebe, Megan & Nathan Finch, and Blake & Megan Bull and 6 great-grandchildren and one lovingly expected. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 sisters, Ada Jean and Glenna Kelly and a brother, Lytle Bull.
