Marlin L. Marple

Marlin Lorraine Marple, 86 of Reynolds, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo. Funeral Services are Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, just prior to services. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Reynolds United Methodist Church Elevator Fund. Marlin was born on September 21, 1927 in Taylor Ridge, Illinois to Warren & Mary (Carothers) Hofer. She married Thomas H. Marple on December 1, 1946 in Taylor Ridge, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2009. Marlin was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church. Marlin and Tom worked together on the family farm outside of Reynolds. After retirement, they enjoyed their winters in Texas. Marlin is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Dean & Karen Marple of Monmouth; Ed & Brenda Marple of Reynolds; 4 grandchildren and spouses: Matthew & Caroline Marple of Long Island, NY; Marcus & Kate Marple of Marion, IA: Betsy & Eric Carlson of Topeka, KS and Tara & Jeremy Schulz of Blue Grass; 7 great-grandchildren: Austin & Autumn Marple; Jonathan Crummy; Max, Avery & Liam Marple and Rayna Schulz; 2 sisters: Darlene Pearson of Aledo and JoAnn Danner of Illinois City. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
