Graveside Military Honors for Donald Lee “Frosty” Ash, 77 of Alexis will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation is Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to Donald Ash Memorial or the American Cancer Society for Colon Cancer Research.
Donald died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at his home.
Don was born on October 6, 1936 in East Moline, Illinois to Lee & Cora (Ricketts) Ash. He married Carol Hacker in 1964 in Galesburg.
Don was a Tool & Dye Designer with several companies including, Reynolds Engineering in Rock Island and retiring from Douglas Machine of Davenport. He was mostly known in the area for playing drums for several local bands including the “Four Winds” and lastly, Steve Tubbs All American Rock N’ Roll Show. Don also enjoyed bowling.
Don is survived by his wife, Carol; children and spouses: Todd Ash; Tracy & Kevin Pestle and Trent & Mary Ash, All of Alexis; a granddaughter, Paige Fowler of Davenport; a brother, James Ash of Maryland and a sister, Betty Aldene of Moline and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
