Carol Mae Anderson, 60, of Aledo, IL died Thursday, Nov. 14th, 2013 at her home surrounded by family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine’s Catholic Church or Community Projects of Aledo, George Pratt Memorial Field Renovations.
Carol was born April 2, 1953 in Clinton, Iowa a daughter of Arthur J. and Stella (Thiessen) Hansen. She married Gary L. Anderson on Aug. 10th, 1974 in Clinton. Carol graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton Junior College and Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in food and nutrition. She later graduated from Western Illinois University earning her Masters Degree in public health, in which she was Summa Cum Laude. Carol was a licensed dietician consultant, working for long term care facilities through out the state of Illinois, for 30 years. She is a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Aledo. She was a former member of Home Extension, where she compiled a scrapbook still used today. She was also a former member of BPW, receiving the award for “Young Careerist.”
Carol enjoyed needlepoint, watching her “soap”, socializing with her friends, snowmobile racing throughout Iowa and Illinois, in which she won many trophies, and was an avid fan of The Green Dragons and The Golden Eagles, listening to many games on the radio. Carol’s truly cherished moments were spent with her family, especially her exceptional grandchildren!
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary; daughters, Kelly (Josh) Frieden of Eliza, Erin (Nate) Frieden of New Boston; grandchildren, Aubrey, Anna, Kylee and Cole Frieden and one lovingly expected. Also surviving are two sisters: Barbara Evans of Iowa City, Mary Beth Doerrfeld of Swisher, IA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Donald Evans.
