Joan L. Dehon

Mass of Christian Burial for Joan L. Dehon, 77 of New Boston, will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 7 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine’s Catholic Church or the Charity of your choice. Joan died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Carrington Place, Muscatine, Iowa. Joan was born on October 17, 1935 in East Moline, Illinois to Arthur & Romanie (DeGraeve) Duyck. She married August Ray Dehon on November 15, 1958 in East Moline. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2003. Joan was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed baking for her family. She also enjoyed bird watching, going out to eat and attending all her grandchildren’s school events. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. Those left to cherish Joan’s memory include her 3 children: Donna Marie Christensen of West Liberty; David Allen Dehon and Teresa Anne Dehon, both of New Boston; 3 grandchildren: Nick Dehon, Emily Christensen and Dillon Christensen; a sister and brother-in-law, Marian & Bob Fontenoy of Fulton, IL; a brother, Robert Duyck of Silvis and sister-in-law, Verle Dehon of Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
