A service celebrating the life of Patsy A. Stone, 65 of Aledo, will be held on Thursday at 11:00AM at the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo, with the Rev. Carl Stoldt officiating. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to establish a Blaser/Stone Scholarship Fund. Pat died on Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Mercer County Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Pat was born on May 2, 1942 to Glenn A. Blaser & M. Verlee (Pearson) Blaser. She married Richard Stone on January 17, 1960 in Kahoka, Missouri. Pat was passionate about her family and was devoted to their happiness. She retired from the National Bank of Aledo after 26 years of service. Pat was a member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church where she was very active and held many offices, and was currently trustee. Pat was an active volunteer in the Aledo Community having served with many organizations including: Serenity Hospice, Aledo Main Street, Relay for Life and Rhubarb Fest. She was very supportive of the Aledo Green Dragon Athletics and the Mercer Foundation for Health, where she was currently Co-Vice Chair for the Capital Campaign for the Hospital. Pat was chosen as the 2006 Woman of the Year recipient from Women for Women. Pat shared her joy of gardening by starting the flower garden at the Mercer County Hospital. Her other hobbies included: working in her greenhouse, taking care of her animals quilting, cooking, painting, drawing and making entries for the Mercer County Fair. She was also a dedicated member of PEO, Chapter H, Aledo. Those left to cherish Pat’s memory include her husband Dick; her mother, Verlee Thornton of Millersburg; her children and their spouses: Todd & Robyn Stone and Lori & Michael Shull all of Aledo; 6 grandchildren: Hilarie and Cassie Stone, Jacob Montague, Christopher, Tyler and Tanner Shull; 4 brothers: Marion “Butch” Blaser, Steve Blaser & his wife, JoAnn, Michael Blaser, all of Aledo and Monte Thornton of Millersburg; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law: Donna & Dean Abolt of Milan, Alice Jo & J. W. Dellitt of Aledo and Terri Thornton of Dekalb. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Blaser, a brother, Dennis Blaser and her step-father, Ed Thornton.
