Marie Dahl

Marie Dahl, 91 of Reynolds, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine, Iowa. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be left for the Lutheran Homes Alzheimers Unit. Marie was born on January 6, 1917 in Reynolds, Illinois to G. H. & Anna (Christie) Fassett. Marie worked for the United States Government during WW II teaching others how to make plutonium. After the war she began her teaching career at Dexter School. She then taught at many local schools including, Frew, Keithsburg, Reynolds, Coal Valley and Moline, retiring from Horace Mann. Marie married Everett O. Dahl on May 9, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri. From this union, one son, Larrie was born. Everett preceded her in death on March 30, 1969. Marie was a member of the former Perryton Presbyterian Church; enjoyed card club, pottery and painting. She was also an avid volunteer and fundraiser for many non-profit organizations including the American Red Cross. Marie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Larrie & Audrey Dahl of Illinois City; 6 grandchildren and spouses: Sean & Bridget Jones of Aledo; Jed & Jennifer Dahl of Joy; Greg & Danielle Dahl of Illinois City; Dan Dahl of Reynolds; David & Tara Dahl of Carbondale and Tyler Jordan of Illinois City; 6 great-grandchildren: Sarah, Collin & Caitlyn Jones, Olivia & Eliah Dahl and Bryce Dahl; a brother, Gene Fassett of Biggsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna & Neil Streeter of New Windsor; a sister-in-law, Violet Fassett of West Chester, PA and many nieces and nephews.
