David L. Kistler, 81 of Aledo, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. A Mass of Christian Burial is Friday at 11:15 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial with Military Honors is at Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 9 to 11 AM at Speer Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Therapy Center or American Legion Post #121, Aledo.
David Lee was born on August 13, 1931 in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois to Delos & Helen (Baker) Kistler. He was united in marriage to Mary Rush on October 20, 1951 in Aledo. Dave served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Dave was a self-employed carpenter, building many homes in the Mercer County area. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #121. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and stock car racing. He loved his family, especially all his girls.
Dave is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Dan of Aledo; granddaughter, Carrie (Kevin) Shride of Burlington, IA; great-granddaughters: Quinci, Averi, Marli, & Kirsten; sister-in-law: Judy Kistler of Aledo; Niece, Sandy Bertleson(Terry Hank) of Aledo and her children: Derek & Jackie; Special friend, Brian Engle of Aledo and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Rodney and a grandson-in-law, Mike McIntire.
