Richard Alan Springer, Sr.

Funeral services for Richard A. Springer, Sr., 68 of Seaton, will be Thursday at 7:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is prior to services from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Richard Springer Memorial Fund. Richard died on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at his home. Richard Alan was born on March 6, 1944 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin to Edmond & Bernice (Soper) Springer. He served in the United States Army. Richard was united in marriage to Leona Sheckles on April 14, 1962. Richard was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing and going south with Leona this past 2 winters to camp. Richard enjoyed his work as both an over the road truck driver and deckhand on various ships. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leona; 5 children and spouses: Richard A. Springer, Jr. of Farmington, IL; Randy & Beth Springer of Omaha, NE; Lisa Bleuer of Seaton; Robert Springer of Anchorage, AK and Laura & Andy Jones of Durant, IA; 11 grandchildren: 8 great-grandchildren and one lovingly expected; 3 brothers: Calvin & Alice Springer of Portland, Oregon; Dan Springer of Seaton; Lowell “Olie” Springer; 2 sisters: Carol Springer of Minneapolis, MN and Emilie Springer of Whitehall, WI and a brother-in-law, Harry Schoolcraft of Black River Falls, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lavon Schoolcraft; brothers, Larry & Lloyd Springer and a sister-in-law, Sandy Springer.
