Gary E. Castor

Gary Castor, 64 of Reynolds, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline. Services are Friday at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Private burial will be at a later date. Visitation is Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Gary was born on October 29, 1947 in Rock Island, Illinois to Eugene Rufus & Helen Louise (Webster) Castor. He married Janet Reuter on April 6, 1975 in Sumner, Iowa. Gary retired from Johnson Controls as a Refrigeration Pipefitter. He was a 15 year member of the RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society) of which he was a Past President. He was also a member of Heritage Weslyan Church, Rock Island. In his spare time Gary enjoyed fishing, boating and working in the shop with his Dad. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best friend of 50 years, Jim Dunn. Those left to cherish Gary’s memory include his wife, Janet; sisters: Joanne (Jim) Anderson of Aledo and Carolyn Vance of Rock Island; many nieces and nephews and a special friend: Jim Dunn of Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents.
