Robert L. Howard

Robert L. Howard, 77 of Aledo, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Trinity, Rock Island. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Private family burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Robert Howard Memorial Fund. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is in charge of arrangements. Robert was born on February 8, 1935 in New Boston, Illinois to Ezra & Alberta (James) Howard. He was a Joy High School graduate. In early years he worked for Huttig’s in Muscatine, before moving home to care for his mother. Robert loved to cook, care for others and babysit his nieces and nephews. He had been an active resident of Aledo Rehab & Healthcare Center since 1990, where he enjoyed being Santa Claus and helping with activities throughout the center. He was a true “people person.” Robert is survived by his 2 sisters: Betty Morgan of Muscatine, IA and Shirley Armstrong of Monmouth, IL; and many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers: Clarence, James, Willis, Aaron and Walter; 2 sisters: Helen Shoemaker and Alice Howard and sister-in-law: Leora Howard.
