Helen M. Wagner, 88 of Aledo, formerly of Eliza, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Mercer County Hospital. Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is from 12:00 to 2:00, prior to services. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home.
Helen Marjorie was born on May 25, 1923 in Joy, Illinois to Ed & Ruth M. (Blaisdell) Taylor. She married Albert “Eldon” Wagner on February 22, 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2006.
Helen was employed with the Westmer School District for over 19 years where she enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a previous member of the First Baptist Church, Muscatine. Helen enjoyed gardening, playing her organ and cooking both at school and at home. She also learned to Swedish Weave recently from her sister, Lois, and it became a favorite pastime.
Those left to cherish Helen’s memory include her grandson, Steven E. Rossnagel and his wife, Christina of Amarillo, Texas; 2 great-grandchildren: Kaitlin and Kristopher Rossnagle; 4 sisters: Lois McCormick and Velma Wadhams, of Aledo; LaVon Wadhams, of New Windsor and Twila Lynn of Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Eldon Eugene Wagner; a daughter, Arlene Ann Rossnagel and a sister, Violet Wadhams.
